Kaizon was established in 2003. We are conveniently located in Milford and serve the North Shore City, Auckland City, Waitakere City and Rodney District Council areas.

The Kaizon team is led by Neil Alvey BSc(Hons), MNZIBS, Principal Registered Building Surveyor and Certified Weathertightness Surveyor, Tony Hodge BSc(Hons), MRICS, MNZIBS, Senior Chartered and Registered Building Surveyor and Certified Weathertightness Surveyor and Andrew Templeman BSc, MRICS, Senior Chartered Building Surveyor. All our Principal and Senior Surveyors are Assessors for the Weathertight Services Group of the Department of Building and Housing (DBH) enabling them to keep upto date with the latest industry, leaky home news and DBH developments.

We have over 100 years of combined project management and building surveying experience in New Zealand and overseas and twelve years specialist experience in the weathertight assessment, remediation and project management of leaky homes and buildings.

Tony and Andrew are both professional Members of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, which assists the company in providing advice to their commercial clients.   

Neil is Kaizon's Principal Surveyor with over 25 years of experience in a variety of construction disciplines overseas and in New Zealand. His work has included the project management of construction projects, including weathertightness remediation, for contracts ranging from $10,000 - $25m.

Neil specialises in weathertight defect reporting and expert witness work representing both claimants and respondents.

Neil recently acted as an expert witness for the Tabrams in the WHT adjudication determination Tabram & Anor v Slater & Or. Mr & Mrs Tabram were awarded $407,343 against the previous owners Mr & Mr Slater. Full details of this determination are available on the WHT website: www.justice.govt.nz/wht/decisions

Tony is a Senior Chartered and Registered Building Surveyor with over 15 years of professional experience in a wide range of commercial and residential building consultancy fields. He has acted on behalf of clients such as Shell, BP, HSBC, Aon, Goodman, Kiwi Income Property Trust and Disney/Fox Kids, Body Corporates as well as private individuals throughout the United Kingdom, Europe and New Zealand.

His work has included the project management of weathertightness remediation;expert witness work; reinstatement/wants of repairs and negotiations for both landlords and tenants for claims varying form $10,000 to $1.5m; acquisition and occupational surveys for investors and occupiers ranging in size from 100m2 to 35,000m2, planned preventative maintenance inspections and the administration of refurbishments and building repairs up to $4m. .

Tony is assisted by PAUL LOVE, BSc (Hons), MRICS and CRAIG ROBERTSHAW, BSc (Hons).

PAUL, who is joining Kaizon shortly, is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 15 years professional experience in project management, contract administration, property condition surveys, maintenance management and building consultancy.

CRAIG is a Building Surveyor with 3 years post graduate experience in property condition surveys, project management and building consultancy.

Andrew is a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor with over 18 years post qualification experience both in New Zealand and the UK. His work has included the production of detailed building surveys on both modern and historic properties, the acquisition of properties for housing associations in addition to the preparation of both schedules of dilapidation and condition on Commercial properties.

Andrew has also worked as a project manager on the re-cladding of both a multi unit development as well as individual dwelling houses and a fire damaged vicarage. Andrew has extensive experience in the investigation and remediation of leaky buildings..

Andrew is assisted by ALASTAIR ADAMS B Arch.

ALASTAIR is a Building Surveying Technician with over 30 years post graduate experience in the design of residential and commercial buildings. For the past 5 years Alastair has been involved in the review of leaky building remediation design and reporting on leaky buildings.
